Suppose the medians AA' and BB' of triangle ABC intersect at right angles. If BC = 3 and AC = 4, what is the length of side AB?
Perpendicular medians can occur only in a right triangle as in the triangle graphed here, also one of the medians has to be drawn from the vertex containing the right angle to the hypotenuse. If the two sides are 3 and 4, then hypotenuse has to be 5, which makes this a 3-4-5 right triangle.
